A short extract from a talk by Ivan Tyrrell, Principal of MindFields College, in which he explores some common misconceptions and dangers of modern hypnotherapy. He explains why great efforts to learn about the importance of the REM state should be undertaken before attempting to use trance states in therapy. Hypnosis is the word we use to describe any technique which artificially gains access to the REM state the most fundamental process in any human being. Like an internal theatre the REM state is that in which our instincts are programmed, our unfulfilled emotional expectations are acted out metaphorically (in dreams) and through which new knowledge enters us via mystical experiences. When therapists use guided imagery and trance states in their work they should do so with the lightest touch possible, as accessing the REM state in this way without sufficient knowledge and awareness of its power can damage the patient. why-we-dream.com why-we-dream.com

Although he responds well to direct suggestion, he responds especially well to metaphorical and symbolic patter. He graciously agreed to be filmed, so we could study his responses. GENERAL INFORMATION The video begins with the client in a highly suggestible state. “The Zone” induction you see in this video was created by me on the spur of the moment. It was neither done from a script nor by rote. It was improvised based on the information given to me by the client whose eyes remain open for most of the induction. The words “zone” and “zoned” are not pre-conditioned suggestions. Although conversational inductions can be done far more subtly than this, for demonstrational purposes, I chose to use embedded suggestions that can be easily noticed by viewers; so Gabriel’s reactions can be easily compared to the implied suggestions. This is an extremely simplified, basic conversational re-induction structure that can be used when …
Visit my website at: www.paradoxhypnosis.com Join my Newsletter here: www.KC2XL.com When I went to the barbershop, I brought my camera with me in hopes of recording some Street Hypnosis segments. The owner of the shop occasionally (and graciously) allows me to hypnotize people inside when there's not a big crowd of people (Thank you, Mo!!) While I was getting my hair cut, the conversation turned to hypnosis when some of the customers recognized me. One of them, nicknamed Junior, had seen me hypnotize two of his friends several months ago, and wanted to be hypnotized by me. Junior's friend, Galo, had not seen me hypnotize anyone; but he eagerly told me that he had been hypnotized 2 years ago during his school's Project Graduation hypnosis show and suggested that I hypnotize Junior. (Project graduation is a safe party held at many high schools on the night of graduation to minimize the graduates' overindulgence while celebrating). Because the barbershop was crowded, we walked up the block to a park where I hypnotized both Junior and Galo as they took turns filming. Thanks again, guys! What you see in this video is Galo being hypnotized for the first time in 2 years by rapid induction. You can see Junior get hypnotized in my video titled, “Park Bench Knock Out (Street Hypnosis Series)” Subscribe so you can be notified the moment new videos are posted.
