hypnotherapy
People Building asked:

If you’re considering training as a hypnotherapist or would like to learn how to use hypnosis for yourself or for use informally with family and friends, you might feel overwhelmed by all the courses on offer. Sadly, at present there’s no one regulating body that oversees all hypnotherapy training, although there are many UK hypnotherapy organizations that have been set up to try to improve standards of hypnotherapy training courses. Due to the lack of one overseeing organization, it can be really tricky knowing which courses are of good quality and which will provide you with the skills to practice as a competent therapist.

I’ve recently finished a certified hypnotherapy diploma and I chose my hypnotherapy course based on recommendation from other people, who had undertaken training with my chosen company. The Trance forming Minds course offered by People Building, a self-development training company in the U.K has been assessed and validated at Practitioner Level by The General Hypnotherapy Standards Council (UK). Graduates from this course are eligible for professional registration with The General Hypnotherapy Register (the GHSC’s Registering Agency) at full Practitioner status, together with the acquisition of the industry-based award- The General Qualification in Hypnotherapy Practice (GQHP).

I selected to train with People Building, because I was satisfied that the training content was comprehensive and that classroom time amounted to 150 hours, which is more then what other courses I looked into were providing. Lets face it, there are plenty of trainers offering to train you in a weekend or a few days, but would you really want to then go and start treating people who may be fragile or unwell and who deserve to be treated by a therapist who knows both how to assess their needs and formulate and then implement a treatment plan competently.

Unlike, some of the other hypnotherapy courses around, the hypnotherapy diploma course offered by People Building involved intense practical application and didn’t rely mainly on students clocking up practical experience in their own time. What this means is that you get to apply the hypnotherapy skills you learn in theory in front of trained and experienced hypnotherapists and therefore you’re constantly supervised and given feedback.

The team were really supportive and completing a hypnotherapy diploma is really enjoyable as you get to experience trance yourself many times throughout the training. This is crucial if you want to practice as a hypnotherapist and you will also gain an insight into factors, which enhance or disturb your trance experience, which you’ll find invaluable once you are practicing.

Trance-forming minds is run over three months and is split into 5 days of classroom work each month, with additional tasking which must be conducted in between each course in order to meet the required numbers of hours for certification. I would recommend this course to anyone considering undertaking hypnotherapy training.

happiness
Winsome Coutts asked:

Everyone wants to be happy, but what does happiness really mean? How do we know if we’re happy? Can anyone be happy all of the time? How do we find happiness? When we talk about life happiness, these are the questions that we ask.

Our perception of life happiness is as individual as the way we perceive hot or cold. For all of us, it’s sort of the same, yet it’s also different. Each individual person is different, and therefore each persons description of what makes a life happy will also be different.

Dictionary.com states happiness is:

1. Characterized by good luck; fortunate

2. Enjoying, showing, or marked by pleasure, satisfaction, or joy

Webster’s Dictionary says happiness is: A state of well-being and contentment

So, if we use these definitions, in order for us to say we’re happy we would be fortunate, showing pleasure and feeling content. That makes sense. Most of the people that we think are happy usually show these characteristics, so lets use this definition and go from there.

Can I have life happiness if I don’t think I’m fortunate? Hmmm, that’s an interesting question isn’t it? Most people are happy when they feel fortunate or blessed by good luck, and most people who feel unfortunate or feel like they’ve lots of bad luck are unhappy. BUT, perception is everything. A person can break their leg in a skiing accident (bad luck) and still be happy and smiling because they feel blessed and fortunate (probably because they did not break both legs!). They might be happy because they know that their leg will heal, and because they were having such fun skiing (up until they ran into the tree at 100 miles/hour!!)! Get the picture?

Or a person could have what most of us would call good fortune and still seem not to have life happiness. There is an art to happiness, and some of us know it and some of us do not, but we all can learn.

Is life happiness the same for everyone? Probably not, even though the normal signs of happiness listed above in the dictionary definitions probably show up in each person who is happy. Different things make different people happy, so happiness and the pursuit of happiness cannot be the same. For example: I’m a quiet type of person who loves to work from home and socializes only once or twice a week. You may be a very gregarious person who works in an office full of people and lunches with a different person everyday and goes to a party every Saturday evening. We are both happy, but our lifestyles are very different. Besides that, what you view as something that would produce happiness may not be a priority for me. Maybe it makes you happy to go on wonderful ski vacations twice a year. It might make me happy to go on wonderful vacations in my back yard and to squirrel my money away. Both situations are right, and we’re both happy.

How do you know if you are happy? The best way to tell if you’re happy is to ask yourself how you’re feeling. Really feeling. Do you feel at ease, relaxed and OK with how things are going on a pretty consistent basis? Then you are probably happy. Feel your body. Is your body relaxed, does it feel calm? You’re probably happy. Remember, happiness doesn’t come from anywhere but inside. If you’re in tune with what’s right for you, you’ll be happy. If you’re trying to live someone else’s definition of authentic happiness, you probably will not be.

Can anyone have authentic happiness all the time? Yes! Well, OK, if a terrible tragedy strikes, you probably won’t be happy at that time. But, you can work through the tragedy and the accompanying emotions knowing that life happiness can and will return when you’ve taken time to properly allow healing. Otherwise, yes. You can be happy all the time. Maybe not jumping up and down and laughing happy each moment, but peaceful content happy, certainly, and that’s equally valuable. Life’s small irritants come and go each and every day. We have a choice whether we greet them with a calm smile or with an angry frown. Either is fine, but the calm smile will help you navigate life in a more happy state of being, and help you find happiness on a consistent basis. Remember, the art of happiness has a lot to do with perception.

Recent research on happiness shows what many of us have long suspected. Happiness, and the pursuit of happiness has more to do with an individual’s perception and what is going on inside that person, than money, fame, or power. Even though those things might bring a feeling that is like happiness, it is attached to those things. Real happiness is much more attached to how a person perceives life. Luckily, if you are the type of person who has a “glass half empty” outlook on life, you can learn to have a “glass half full” attitude which will gain you happiness.

goal setting
Shawn Lim asked:

It does not matter what goals you set and what goals you want to reach. The main question here’s how to set an effective goal that’ll drive you into taking action. You should know that the main reason most people fail to accomplish their goals is because they are not taking enough action or they simply procrastinate. And why does this happen? It is because the goals that they have set are not effective. That’s why you need to learn about effective goal setting.

Before you start to set your goal, there’s one thing that you must be clear of. It is the reason for you to achieve your goals. You must know why you want to reach your goals so much in your life. If your reason isn’t strong enough, you will never put in 100 percent commitment into taking action and hence you will never achieve it. So make sure that you are cleared with what you want in your life before going on.

Now, you can set all kinds of goals, you can set your goals as you want to be a multi-millionaire, you can even set your goal as that you want to be the president. You can achieve any goals you want in your life, but you must make use of these 5 no-fail strategies for effective goal setting. They are…

1. Your goals must be as specific as possible.

The first thing is of course your goals must be specific. The more specific the better, this is because it will be easier for your mind to come out with strategies and steps to accomplish them. If you are not specific, it is hard for you to focus in your goals. For example, if your goal is to make $1,000,000 in just 2 years, do you know that there are tons of strategies you can use to achieve this goal? You can invest in stock market; build your own business, through network marketing and more. So be as specific as possible, this is the most basic step for effective goal setting.

2. Set a deadline for each of your goals.

Second, your goals must have a deadline. A goal without a deadline isn’t a goal, it is a dream. If you say that you want to be a multi-millionaire, when is it that you are going to achieve that goal? Is it 3 years from now? Is it 10 years from now or is it 20 years from now? A lot of people set goals, but they never set a deadline for their goals, and that’s why they didn’t achieve their goals, simply because they don’t know when they’re going to accomplish them. Remember, put a deadline every of your goals, if your goals don’t have any deadline, it isn’t an effective goal setting strategies anymore.

3. Your goals must be achievable.

This is a more to practical step. What kind of goals do you set? If you set a goal like you want to earn $100,000, how are you going to accomplish it? Make $100,000 isn’t something that can be achievable. What I mean here is that, you must include your strategies and plans of how you are going to achieve your goals. To conquer the Chinese market isn’t something achievable. However, to sponsor 3 Chinese everyday in your business will eventually bring you to your goal, which is to conquer the Chinese market. It is the small step that’ll bring you to your goals. Therefore, always break down your goals into achievable small steps.

4. Develop momentum by taking at least 3 action steps after setting your goals.

An effective goal setting must include developing momentum towards your goals. A lot of people don’t know about this, and a lot of them will not do this even if they knew. You have to create the momentum that keeps you going throughout the whole process until the day you achieve your goals. For instance, if your goal is to make $100,000, then you can take action steps like paying deposit for any wealth courses or seminars and you can purchase any wealth books to digest as well. By doing so, you are creating the momentum to keep you going. You need to do this each week, and the ideal will be everyday. Once your momentum is up, nothing can ever stop you. This is how effect goal setting can help you achieve anything you want in your life.

5. Write down your goals and stick it on the wall where you can see it often.

This is an old school strategy. Write down your goals and stick it on the wall where you can see it often. I believe that you know about this strategy, just that you don’t dare to do it. Many people seem like embarrass to tell everyone about their goals. In fact, it is a great step to tell everyone about what you want to reach in your life. This is because by doing so, you are putting yourself on the line and you’ll never forget your goals. The more you’re reminded of your goals, the more action you’re going to take, and thus, the easier you can achieve your goals. So stick your goals on the wall, speak about them all the time and live with them.

If you’re following all these 5 no-fail strategies for effective goal setting, I believe that you will feel superior about life and you can achieve anything you want with them. All of these 5 strategies are just steps to follow, they’re easy to accomplish if you are committed to your goals.

Like what I’ve mentioned above, you must find out what you really want in your life before you begin setting your goals. Once you are cleared with what you want in your life and you why you want it so much, follow these 5 effective goal setting strategies, and you’ll achieve the things you desired the most.

organisation
Robert Meldrum asked:

This article is intended to help you organise successful group travel; whether you are new to group travel organisation or are simply looking to improve on your experiences. It is aimed at a variety of people in mind. You may be an allocated tour committee member, Social secretary, Club president; or you may be a manager having been asked to organise a corporate trip. You may also be a best man organising a stag ‘do’ or simply organising a holiday for a big group of friends.

Where to Begin

If you have not organised group travel before you are probably thinking where do I start? If you’ve organised group travel before and it didn’t go so smoothly you should be asking – where should I’ve started last time?

The first thing you need to decide is who will be responsible for what, make sure those roles are clearly defined, and that the individuals comprehend their responsibilities. The number of people who need to be involved in organising group travel will vary depending on your group and destination. For small and informal groups you may decide that you’ll take responsibility for all the tasks. For huge and more formal groups it is often best to assign tasks to multiple people.

You should consider:

Who will be responsible for collecting money?

For sports or performing arts groups – who will organise kit and clothing

Who will sell the tour to your group and convince them to go.

Who will organise your group – make sure they all have up-to-date passports, organise rooming lists, and carry out any other administration that needs to be done.

Fundraising- if required

Idea brainstorming

Once you have decided on these responsibilities you need to come up with some general ideas of where your group should go and what they should do. In some cases this will be simple as other factors will have already pre-determined this. If you’re a sports group and are organising a trip for a sports tournament, your destination and main activity will have already been set. In this situation you should think about what other activities you may also want to do in order that you get the most enjoyment out of your trip.

In many cases brainstorming will be a much more involved process. If you’re a music group wishing to go on tour then the options are almost endless with regards to destinations, concerts and itineraries.

You will probably need to do some research into ideas for your group and the brainstorming process could take several weeks. Why not get some ideas from the experts! There are a number of professional group travel organisers out there such as MyGroupTour who will be full of ideas and have probably done something similar before. Contacting a professional group organiser won’t cost you anything and will enable you to pick their brains. MyGroupTour and a number of others also provide a large collection of pre-built itineraries on their web sites. You may be able to take one of these directly or adapt it to meet your needs. You can also do research in to destinations on the internet by using web sites such as ‘Trip Adviser’ or ‘In Europe’ to help get some ideas. If you are travelling in Britain then use http://www.visitbritain.co.uk. This is a great web site with lots of useful information. As well as destination and itineraries you’ll need to consider approximate date of travel, likely numbers, accommodation type, and extra excursions that you might want to do.

Budget

A group’s budget is very important. If you create an over priced trip or holiday then no one from your group will be able to come. Equally if you set the budget so low, then you will end up in accommodation that no one wants to stay in, which again might put them off coming.

You need to agree a price range that you think your group can afford and create your trip based on that. If you want to go on a week’s tour to Europe but realise that your group can only realistically afford £100 each then you will need to consider fundraising or making an adjustment to your tour in terms of time length, destination or itinerary.

Remember any group can afford a tour it just takes the right amount of planning, creativity and preparation. Some members might have a particularly difficult economic background. You may want to take into account subsidising these members from the clubs funds and fundraising. Some people might also be prepared to pay more in order to reduce the cost to others. You should also take into consideration free places for yourself. In most group bookings you should be able to get a free hotel bed for every 25 members in the group even though coach prices are not normally affected.

Getting your group together

The first step is in persuading people to go on your group trip. There are three main factors that decide this. Does the trip appeal to them, is it at a price they have the ability to afford and how charismatic are you at selling them the idea! If you can get these three things right then you should have no problem in getting most of your group to go on the trip.

Administrating group travel can be quite time consuming and challenging. You can find your self having to ring people multiple times because they are not in. Chasing people up who have not done something you asked them to do, dealing with people who have dropped out or adding new members on to the tour who now want to come. You must be prepared for a complex and time consuming operation if you want to do everything your self. You can significantly ease the burden by using a professional group organiser. They have the ability to help to deal with these problems on your behalf. Depending on which company you go with and what you’ve concurred with them. If you want them to do everything then you should anticipate to pay a tiny extra. But this would free you up to do other tasks that might other wise be more pricey to you by ignoring them. One solution that’ll be available to you from late summer 2008 is the website from MyGroupTour. They will be providing a series of on the web facilities to help you with collecting money, organising your trip and getting quotes from suppliers.

Raising finance and fundraising

Ok, if your group is going on a stag do then no one is going to give charitably to support your drunken antics! If you’re a corporation organising group travel, then the only way you are going to get some one else to pay for it will be if you offer commercial benefits to them.

With most groups though there is a multitude of ways to raise finance for your group travel. You can organise generic events, fun days or organise something based on what your group does. General events and fun days could include: – sponsored marathon/competition, Car washing at a local supermarket or School, Coffee morning for you local retirement home, put on a disco, create a night out, or organise an Easter egg hunt. The list is really only limited by your imagination. Also you should try organising something that relates to what your group does. If you’re an orchestra then organise concerts for your local community. You can quite swiftly raise the money you need for your trip; all it takes is a tiny enthusiasm and it can be lots of fun.

The thing people are most reluctant to do is part with their money. At the early stages it is important that you collect a deposit from every group member who has confirmed they are coming on the trip. With out this there’s no commitment or incentive for them not to drop out at the last second and this could be humiliating. By doing this, your trip will become far more manageable. You should make your members aware that the final amount due may be liable to change slightly if group members drop out or new ones join. A coach booked at £400 divided by 30 people is going to cost more per person than dividing the cost between 40 people. You will normally find that quotes are given in price bands as group travel operators will be aware the people may drop out or you may get additional travellers. You must also make people aware of cancellation cut off dates. Normally if you cancel with a hotel within 30 days prior to departure you’ll be liable to pay the full amount.

Law and the package travel directive

There have been changes in the Law relatively recently that you need to be aware of. If a consumer purchases more than one travel component, it is considered a package. As such, you must place this money into a trust account and cannot access the money until your group members have travelled. This applies to all non regular group travel organisers. However the definition of what’s non regular is not clearly defined and has not been tested in court yet. To avoid the risk of breaking the law on this matter it can be easier to use a professional group travel organiser who already has systems in place to deal with the travel package directive. To find out more you can go to this guide that has been compiled by the government. http://nds.coi.gov.uk/imagelibrary/downloadMedia.asp?MediaDetailsID=231125

Industry bodies

If you do use a professional group travel organiser you should look to see that they’re a member GTOA (Group Travel Organisers Association) or the ETOA (European Tour Operators Association) if you plan on making a European trip.

Travel Insurance

As a group travel organiser or initiator for your group you will be viewed as responsible for everything that happens to your group members. Unfortunately from time to time things won’t go quite as planned. You must there for ensure you and your group members are protected against such instances. This is especially true with school and youth groups. Often travel insurance isn’t that expensive and it can be a legal requirement in many situations.

set goals
Joshua Uebergang asked:

Goal setting is the framework for personal accomplishment. It is the backbone of becoming a person you desire to be. Setting and achieving personal goals will guarantee you success. Most people who do set goals have little to no understanding of goal setting and as a result fail to accomplish them and never succeed. You would think that if goal setting was the ultimate skill and secret to success that everyone would develop their own personal goals and learn to reach them. Unfortunately, the world is not that perfect. There are six perilous reasons people don’t set and achieve their goals which act like a road block to their success.

There are several reasons why people do not set goals similarly to why people do not care about communicating effectively. I know with absolute certainty that everyone will experience a more successful and far enjoyable life if they learned to communicate effectively. Arguably the greatest modern day personal development Coach, Anthony Robbins said, “The way we communicate with others and with ourselves ultimately determines the quality of our lives.” Effective communication determines the quality of your life with others while self development determines the quality of your inner life.

The first reason I believe why people don’t set goals is they do not see its importance. Like people who don’t develop their communication and other aspects of themselves, they don’t see the importance of setting goals. I have met people who are unbelievably resistant to developing their communication. They have actually found it insulting to think they need to improve how they communicate! Each single person on the face of this Earth can always communicate more effectively and have their life improve as a result. Likewise, with goals there are people who do not see the importance of setting personal goals. Goal setting forms the foundations for personal achievement and it is of the utmost importance.

The second reason why people don’t set goals is a fear of others caused from criticism. People criticize because they see faults in others or are brainwashed by society and other beliefs into thinking greatness cannot be achieved. They criticize to hold people back from achieving goals. Average people don’t want others to go beyond average. A person can fear setting goals because each time they’ve set goals in the past, others have criticized and shot down their dreams. Others impose their own self-limiting beliefs through criticism instilling fear within the person. Think of receiving criticism as a poisonous needle injected into your body. It slowly controls and destroys what you want. The destructive thought of fear controls the person from achieving anything remarkable. Put bluntly, screw what people think. Screw allowing people to destroy your life with their beliefs. Society is filled with endless garbage to prevent you from achieving your goals. If you want something, go and get it by setting and achieving personal goals.

The third reason why people do not set goals is a fear of failure. They can think success is derived from not failing. The opposite is true. Success comes from failing a lot and failing fast. Famous inventor Thomas Edison stated, “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.” Being an inventor, Thomas understand failure was apart of success. Failure was the nuts and bolts that constructed his success. Comprehend that failure occurs and it shows you’re taking action. Learn from failure and enjoy knowing you are moving towards your goals instead of fearing to set out after them in the first place.

The fourth reason why people don’t set goals is a fear success. People who fear success believe it is bad. The fear is common in wealth and wanting an attractive partner because negative results will occur. They believe wealth is evil or a certain type of partner is unfaithful. The fear prevents them achieving what they want by not laying the foundations of their desire with goal setting.

The fifth reason why people don’t set goals is they do not know how. This reason relates to fear of failure where the person has set goals in the past, but has not achieved them and becomes discouraged from the failure. These people become disheartened from the failure and think failure is imminent. They do not learn from past mistakes and move towards personal growth. The classic example of this is losing weight as a new year’s resolution. A mere temporary motivation inspires the person who is lucky to lose weight in January but no further progression towards achieving the goal occurs in later months. If you don’t set and begin working towards a goal now, what makes you think you will be able to reach it as a new year’s resolution? There are techniques such as SMART goal setting which I have written about but are not covered in this article. Using SMART goals enables you to set and achieve goals then merely wishing a result based on temporary motivation too common around the new years period.

The sixth reason why people don’t set goals is they lack the inner desire to want something greater then what they currently have. For them, the ordinary or even sub-ordinary is adequate. These people do not believe they have the ability to reach or deserve success because society has conditioned them into thinking they are ordinary people and therefore must do ordinary things. It can also be caused by failure, criticism, and other reasons as to why people don’t set goals.

Did you find yourself relating to one of these six perilous reasons people don’t set goals and as a result never succeed? Don’t fret too much because you are now more self-aware and able to doing something about. All that is required for you to do is learn how to set achievable goals. I personally advise people to follow the SMART goal setting technique because its congruency with successful goal setting is spot on. You set specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and tangible goals leading to your success. Master this skill and you’ll have the most powerful personal development technique in your grasp to accomplish success.

goal setting
Koz Huseyin asked:

Want to know all about goal setting? Want the low down of what goal setting is and how goal setting can help you in your life? In this article, we will be looking at all about goal setting, and by the end you’ll know what goal setting is, and how you can do basic goal setting now.

In this article all about goal setting, you will learn about:

* All About Goal Setting – What Is Goal Setting?

* All About Goal Setting – Why Set Goals?

* All About Goal Setting – Basic Goal Setting Method?

* All About Goal Setting – What Is Goal Setting?

When you want to learn all about goal setting, the first point that is important to grasp, is to get clear on what is goal setting. So, what’s goal setting?

If we think of life, we go through education, get into adulthood, and get a job. Most of the time, we do things because others have influenced us to some degree, and we are doing what others want us to do. Now there is nothing wrong with that, but you might want to change that to living life how you want to live it.

People are like ships without rudders, and setting goals is like having a rudder. Though all people set goals, there is a distinction between what the many do, and the goal setting we’re speaking about here. Setting goals consciously is what is important. A person trying to wake up on time and going to work in a timely fashion is not the type of goal setting we want.

* All About Goal Setting – Why Set Goals?

To really understand all about goals the second point to consider is why set goals in the first place? As I wrote earlier, the process of setting goals is to get you in control. Instead of going through life, living how other people want to live, you can break out and live life on your terms.

Now, I am not speaking about going crazy, and having a Don King hairstyle! What I mean is putting things into perspective. Though you may have a hard time with money, this is not the case all around the world. And though you might have good and clean water through a tap, others have to walk miles to find dirty water.

The process of setting goals allows you to see that multitude of difference. To say what you like and don’t like, and decide on what you really want. And then you can set about achieving that goal.

* All About Goal Setting – Basic Goal Setting Method?

The last point I want to cover with learning all about goal setting is to consider how you actually do it. There are lots of methods to set goals, and everywhere you go, you may see many different systems. Are these goal setting systems worth it? It depends on how much you’re committed to goal setting, and your experience.

If you have never before set goals, then try this. Sit, and spend 5 minutes to think what you want. You could think about getting a cup of coffee or something small, to test the process out. Then write it down, and think about how you might get that. Then go!
