self confidence
Raymond asked:

As an ordinary human being, we’re not always to be right and perfect. Therefore we shall build up our self confidence now to cope with all of the obstacles that we might face later. But we need to have positive attitude towards building our self confidence because instead focusing on those negative thought such as fear and worry will only make us lack of energy and spirit to face the challenge ahead. Hence, attitude is the most important assets that we need to have in order to improve your self confidence.

If you’ve the intentions of creating more self confidence, you could be able to achieve great result in many areas such as financially, healthy and of course wealthy. Following are the some of the basic but important steps and habit that we need to build up in order to build up self confidence.

Understand ourselves, communicate with ourselves. It looks silly but it really helps.  All of us have a subconscious mind within us, whether we know it or not, this subconscious mind is very powerful that it acts like a personal programming our daily activities, feelings within ourselves. Whatever we see, feel and touch along the day will be programmed into the subconscious mind. So it is very important that we need to install positive attitude into our mind, because we are the one to decide which part of our lives should be in our memory.

So if we choose to remember and use those negative thoughts along the day, our mind will eventually discourage us to be more self confident for ourselves. We need to hear the positive messages as they’ll build up self confidence today and raise our self esteem and confidence.  Take control. Use our inner thoughts to speak to ourselves in a positive manner, as often as we can.

As an example one of my regular sayings is “I like myself, I like myself, I like myself”. I just repeat it for a couple of minutes.  It sounds silly again, but does help to build up your self confidence today – Try it.

Increase your self esteem even more by appreciate of what you’ve tight now. Treasure the things that happened in your life so far.  Say “thank you” to yourself to everything you see, all whom you meet, and each smile that you receive. You will feel more grateful and confidence.

Our body posture represents what we’re at that particular time. Simple habit that we can learn and start to implement it are stand and sit correctly. Your great and nice body posture will speak for you. How you stand sends out a message to the World, and in turn, back to you.

Dress as smart as you can especially in some special occasions. You won’t feel at your ideal if you don’t look your best. You will be amazed at just how much more self confidence you will have just looking your ideal.  It just feels good when you are wearing your ideal clothes, are well groomed, and are surrounded by a clean environment.  So what if it is Saturday, you need to build up your self confidence today not next week.  Put on your nice clothes, get the vehicle washed.

Finally, this seems very easy but most of us forgot of it – Smile. Just smile and things seem better somehow. The world will be more wonderful than ever. Go to the mirror and smile – make yourself. Not a grimace , but a proper smile.

Begin build up self confidence this day!

Scott White asked:

No other subject inspires as much mythological fodder as hypnosis. It is surprising that during the age of information that many of these myths still remain and that people believe them to be true. Below you’ll find the truth behind 10 of the most prevalent myths about hypnosis.

MYTH 1

The first of ten myths about hypnosis and the one that seems to cause the greatest fear among people is the assumption that under hypnosis you’ve no control over your mind or your actions. This is simply not true. In a hypnotic state you do become more conscious of what you’re thinking and feeling, but you don’t become a puppet to a masterful hypnotist. A hypnotist might use suggestive words to help you focus your attention in different ways, however, you don’t lose your capability to think on your own or to control your behavior while experiencing hypnosis.

MYTH 2

Hypnosis has ties to satanic practices. Hypnosis has no ties to Satanism or satanic ritual practices whatsoever. Satanic practices are seen as dark and unseemly with demonic undertones. Helping people to improve their lives is what hypnosis is really all about. That’s in sharp contrast to the harmful practices that most satanic rituals are comprised of.

MYTH 3

Once you enter a hypnotic say you run the risk of getting stuck in that state permanently. It is nearly unbelievable that people still believe this, but there are lots of who unfortunately still do, but hypnosis is nothing more than a deeper awareness of what you’re thinking and feeling. It is not another realm of existence as some would have you believe.

MYTH 4

You have to be a specific personality type to be hypnotized. Wrong! In actuality we all enter into a hypnotic state almost each night. When we go to sleep our conscious and unconscious mind meet and go over the days events or even over past ones, creating the dreams we experience. Even if after wakening up you have no recollection of having had dreams while asleep, research has shown that all humans and animals dream while sleeping.

MYTH 5

Hypnosis can only work for weaker minded individuals and not for those with a resistance to hypnosis. In fact resistance is recommended by many hypnotists so that individuals can recognize the experience as being their own and not a product of a cleverly skilled hypnotist.

MYTH 6

Hypnosis is just a clever illusion that has no real useful purpose. Magicians put forth illusions to confuse what the eye and mind are seeing. A hypnotist is attempting to clear away any confusion that is acting as an obstruction to a person.

MYTH 7

Going to a hypnotist when you can learn how to hypnotize yourself is a waste of money. Self hypnosis has its value and it can be a safe and effective method of self improvement. However self hypnosis can exasperate mental conditions and traits such as negative thinking, and this should really be taken into consideration before writing hypnotists off as a waste of money. Your overall health should take precedence over financial considerations.

MYTH 8

The belief that hypnosis wipes away all memory of the hypnosis experience. Your memory skills are not lessened by hypnosis. In fact, hypnosis can be used to help you improve your retention skills and as mentioned earlier in this article, hypnosis isn’t another realm of existence. You don’t lose knowledge of whom or where you are or become completely unconscious of the thoughts and feelings you are having.

MYTH 9

Hypnosis can be used to force people to confess to crimes they have committed. First of all, if a person isn’t open to disclosing a fact, hypnosis won’t make it happen. Hypnosis can help a person to feel comfortable enough to make disclosures, but this is still a conscious choice. This is why confessions made under hypnosis are can not be used in criminal proceedings.

MYTH 10

A very perilous myth is that hypnosis is a cure all. Hypnosis is useful in conjunction with medical treatments for a number of diseases, but it can’t cure them.

Hopefully now that you have been supplied with the truth about hypnosis you might select to look into how helpful hypnosis can be for you.

hypnotherapy
Terry Doherty asked:

When it comes to a powerhouse of therapy, thought field therapy (TFT) combined with hypnotherapy is one of the most effective out there today. The mind is full of strength and power and when therapies combine to workout the struggles housed inside the mind, there’s no stopping the positive outcome.

Hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy is the practice of hypnosis in a therapeutic manner. A person who is hypnotized grants the inner most walls of the mind to fall for a short period of time. During these sessions, the hypnotherapist can guide the person through the various sections of the mind seeking out the causes for any struggles or troubles they may be having in life. While in a hypnotic state, unlike a waking state, the mind does not block outside forces from persuading these negative thoughts and ideas out of the subconscious. Once the causative factors are found and neutralized, the patient of hypnotherapy will have a superior feeling about their life and the situation that brought them into the hypnotherapist’s office in the first place.

Hypnotherapy is practiced for a variety of reasons. Patients often choose hypnotherapy for phobias, fears, weight loss and anti-smoking. As of late, relationship counselling is also moving up the list of the most common hypnosis treated concerns with patients.

Thought Field Therapy

Created by Roger Callahan, TFT is the practice of the physical combined with the mental treatments of certain physical ailments. It is explained that TFT uses what are called meridian points throughout the body as the centres for Qi flow. When a patient thinks about the negative feelings harbour their lives, those feelings are brought to the surface of the body at corresponding meridian points. When tapped upon in a certain manner, the Qi flow is restored and the negative feelings are washed away in minutes.

TFT also utilizes voice technology (referred to as VT) in order to help stimulate the rise of the negative energy to the surface of the skin. Training to learn the practices of TFT are very specialized and are taught only be Callahan himself.

The Power of Combination Therapy

When TFT and hypnotherapy are combined, the results are nothing less than phenomenal. The hypnotherapy is a fantastic beginning point for patients that are unaware of the reasons they are having certain symptoms or negative feelings. Phobias are the perfect example of such a situation. With hypnotherapy, the cause of the fear can be found and then the patient will resort to TFT to restore their inner balance and eliminate the fear from their lives.

While there are some physicians who are trained in both hypnotherapy and TFT, the most realistic choice is to find separate doctors within each specialty that are willing to work together in your treatment. The combination of forces needs to be something that all celebrations agree to and thus TFT needs to be a method the hypnotherapist is willing to accept.

While these two therapies are unique, in that they represent a more substitute option for therapy, their popularity is growing by leaps and bounds. Hypnotherapy and TFT are both completely natural and safe for the human body. With no known side effects, the patients of hypnotherapy and TFT are often turning to these treatments for more common ailments before visiting their medical doctors. If there is any chance that they are able to be cured in a manner that is 100% natural, that’s becoming the most chosen medical path. From smoking to weight loss, relationship relief to stress relief, the power of combination hypnotherapy and TFT is strong and beneficial.

hypnotherapy
Alan Densky asked:

The underlying causes of most physical habits may be quite varied, and rooted at different psychological levels. Although hypnotherapy has a wide range of uses, the behaviors that are most directly related to physical habits are typically the ones that can be treated with hypnotherapy most immediately and directly. Smoking cessation is the most well known of these, and is one of the most successful and less invasive techniques for reaching its goal. Another common area for hypnotherapy treatment is for weight reduction. Similarly, hypnotherapy is also the ideal technique for ending a nail biting habit.

The nail biting habit has much in common with smoking. It is a ritualistic, physical habit. Either might be caused by the mechanics of a simple physical routine, or might perhaps be indicative of deeper psychological root causes. And in either case the habit itself can be very effectively halted with hypnotherapy.

Discovering and resolving underlying psychological issues, which are exhibited in nail biting and smoking can be a process that requires numerous sessions with a knowledgeable hypnotherapist. Not all hypnotists and hypnotherapists are capable of working at the deep psychological level. Fortunately, for the purposes of eliminating a smoking or a nail biting habit, they’re not required to work below the most direct physical level.

The immediate goal of finding a nail biting cure is far more straightforward. Many of our deeper psychological and emotional says are impacted by our physical state, so in solving the physical symptoms directly, we are also able to have an indirect impact on deeper issues. In addition, not all negative physical behaviors have underlying causes; sometimes it is merely just a physical habit; it just “feels” good for the individual to take part in them.

I’ve seen that the focused and relaxed state of hypnosis can achieve nearly miraculous results when used in causing simple physical state changes. Whenever I eliminate severe burn pain, remove nausea, and solve other physical symptoms for a client in just a few seconds, it still surprises and amazes me, even though I am supposedly the one with the “power” (although as we know, the true power exists within the client’s unconscious mind). The abilities exist in each of our minds to block severe pain and nausea; so the ability to prevent one from biting their nails is a modest goal in comparison.

I’ve found three of the powerful aspects of hypnotherapy to be anchoring, substitution and association. With association, one can link the undesirable behavior to something aversive; with substitution, one can replace the bad habit with an innocuous one; with anchoring, one can connect physical movement triggers with alternative feelings and behaviors.

With association, just like the simple hypnotic phenomenon can make a piece of white bread taste like the most delectable New York Cheesecake to a subject, one can make the feeling and taste of nail biting to be extremely distasteful. If your subject is consistently and repeatedly conditioned that the taste and feel of nail biting is very unpleasant, it will help to cause the habit to cease.

There are chemical products that achieve this goal via foul tasting nail polish. However, with a mental association it is easy to stop nail biting without relying on consistently applying a chemical product. This “aversion” type of therapy generally is not very helpful. But it is only reliable when used as an adjunct to eliminating stress that causes one to bite their nails, as well as extinguishing conditioned responses (unconscious associations), which triggers one to bite their nails.

With substitution, it can be effective to replace the nail-biting behavior with a more benign affliction. For instance, it is quite effective to make the suggestion that whenever one feels the impulses that lead them towards nail biting, they’ll take a deep breath instead, and slowly exhale, achieving all the same feelings and resolution that nail biting used to bring. I have found the deep breathing substitute to be very effective for a wide range of problems.

Similarly, anchoring can be used to subvert one action into another, and works well with association and substitution. It is useful to create the suggestion that each and every time subjects see their fingers coming to their mouth, they vividly remember the unpleasant taste association, and they instead take a deep breath to resolve the tension.

In summary, hypnotherapy has been recognized as one of the most successful methods for negative habit modification. Just as with smoking cessation, the techniques and concepts discussed here prove to be very successful as a long-term nail-biting solution.

hypnosis
Eldon Taylor asked:

nd Self Hypnosis by Eldon Taylor, Ph.D., DAPA, Ct.H.

Introduction

First, I want to recommend to you that all hypnosis is fundamentally self hypnosis. This idea is not new from me, for one of the real pioneers of modern hypnosis, Dr. Milton Ericcson made this statement many years ago. The fact is, hypnosis is based on suggestibility and you must be willing to accept the suggestions or their is no so-called trance state to follow. Now, that’s not to state that gifted hypnotists are not able to disarm defenses one might have, but it is to say that YOU are the key to a successful hypnotic session. The common fear of hypnosis, that someone else has control over you, has no place in a self-hypnosis session, for you are both the hypnotist and the subject–and just to be clear, the fear is mislaid and false to fact.

You’ll learn that hypnosis is a natural state that can be objectified by brain wave activity. This special brain wave state known as alpha and theta (we’ll look at those more closely later in this text) isn’t only a powerful say for mind training, deep relaxation, accelerated learning opportunities and so forth, but a say that most move through several times each day. All of this and more is covered in these programs, so let’s get into some important matters that are not discussed there.

Self Hypnosis to Condition Belief

Not long ago I was preparing a literature review of hypnosis. One of the texts I used is written by two scholars with impeccable credentials. The book is called “Hypnosis, Will and Memory” (Laurence and Campbell, 1988). It is essentially a psycho-legal history of hypnosis. Repeatedly the text cites a time when hypnosis was believed to be either of the devil or pure unmitigated fakery. Finally, the scientific community investigated hypnosis. Scientists who doubted hypnosis used a test to determine true hypnosis from fakery. The test was largely based on body levitation evidence. In other words, it was assumed as a result of direct observation that a subject truly in hypnosis could and would levitate!

Now skeptics tested for fakery and often reported finding hidden wires and ropes and pulleys. However, these same skeptics reported true unfaked levitation on many occasions. Not only did they report it, the evidence was sometimes offered in the courts. Okay, levitation was not such an unnatural act until the laws of Newton became popularly known. Suddenly, everyone knew that the human body was heavier than air and could not float. Levitation suddenly disappeared from the scene and the literature. Prior to that, levitation was often witnessed by the most reliable of even the skeptics in instances of hypnosis, spiritual enlightenment and so-called demonic possession. Indeed, levitation was one of the criteria for determining the guilt or innocence of a witch.

It would appear that belief, individual and collective, directly influences the physical world. Physicists have often reported the role of the “observer” in influencing the outcome of physical measurement and observation. Indeed, many physicists believe that consciousness interacts with matter. A current study employed some sophisticated statistical measurements to evaluate the mind’s interaction with matter. The data clearly recommended an information exchange between mind and matter.

Belief in ourselves, capabilities, powers, and the influence over our own lives and the world around us, is at the crux of what each and every one of us experiences in life. Belief literally may define and delimit our every experience. Eroding belief is doubt. Self doubt is the most personally damaging belief we can hold.

Monkey Conditioning–Behaviorism

Regaining our inherent self-confidence, self-belief, self-respect, and self power is relatively simple, if we are willing to make the proper choices. The difficulty is in the choices. Humans can behave very much like the conditioned animal. It is for this reason that Classical Behaviorism gained such popularity in psychological schools of thought. Behaviorism essentially argues that the human condition is entirely a product of nature/nurture and is conditioned to believe, behave and otherwise execute life. There’s no such thing as a higher principle or a need for self-actualization. The human is but a shabby animal with higher cerebral processing mechanisms than other animals. It behaves in habitual patterns and treatment consists chiefly of changing the patterns. The assertion seems easy, change behavior and you change the person. This assertion has some very pragmatic applications and we will use it as we progress with the material at hand. However, just so there is no ambiguity, the underlying hypothesis which asserts no higher principle is as false a notion as any one will ever encounter! In fact, it is my thought that only one with true cognitive dissonance and/or absolute ignorance of the world around us would hold such a view.

Modified Says Of Consciousness

For some, an modified state of consciousness is a taboo. It portends to “mess” with the mind. The mind isn’t to be messed with. I’ve always found this assertion naive for the reason that each human being experiences various states of modified consciousness daily. When the typical person turns on the TV, an altered say generally ensues. Indeed, kids become conditioned to enter an modified say within minutes after beginning to view Television. Studies have demonstrated that even when children are hooked up to brain wave monitoring devices such as electro encephalographic feedback and given substantial reward motivation to remain in fully alert states of consciousness, that in under five minutes they’ll fail to maintain ordinary wakeful consciousness. The child will slip into what’s commonly termed alpha consciousness (more on this in a moment). When a person day dreams, falls into a light sleep or state of reverie, slowly wakes from a deep sleep, or fixates on almost anything, they are nearly always in an altered state of consciousness. So what’s an modified say of consciousness?

Typically, consciousness is divided into four categories. Normal consciousness is called “beta,” lightly modified consciousness “alpha,” deep sleep “theta,” and comatose states “delta.” States of consciousness are thought of in terms of brain wave rates (cycles per second). Beta consciousness is normally 15 to 30 cycles per second, alpha is 8 to 14 cycles per second, theta is 4 to 8 cycles per second and delta is less than 4. Now let’s translate this schema into something meaningful outside the realm of definition.

Beta

In normal ordinary wakeful states of consciousness, the mind operates from its most critical platform. It constantly judges input from self (inner talk) and others. It evaluates and reacts. Indeed, it chiefly reacts. For even when one believes they’re evaluating, more often than not, the evaluation is settled before it begins. The belief system of the unconscious not only places a lens through which all matters will be disputed, but it also hides behind a protective veil the information that might give rise to mistaken decisions. That’s, the unconscious mind during normal wakeful says is operating as a software program feeding the flow of each day life through a mosaic of interpretations that are written chiefly upon avoidance and attraction principles (experienced and imagined). Therefore, when the conscious mind says something like, “I can do this. I am good enough to excel and succeed,” the unconscious (subconscious if you prefer) sends some inner talk message like, “Really, good enough for what? How about‹? Do you remember?” etc.

Now, maybe the reason the unconscious sends the negative message is due to some fear from the past, or some fear projected through imagination. Perhaps the negative feedback is due to negative input from peers, parents, and so forth. It is also possible that the negative is due to some deep sense of unworthiness that’s the result of a need to punish oneself. It could also be the result of some deep belief that conflicts with our desire, such as the desire to become successful and an inner belief that sorts along a line of logic that goes something like this, “If I want to be saved in Heaven, I have to sacrifice here and now. Further, money is the source of all evil.” There could also be a myriad of other reasons and a virtual labrynth of entanglement between them all. The fact is, in ordinary beta consciousness very little new information can really get in. Now, “very little” in this reference is by comparison to alpha consciousness. In fact, just as an aside before going further, the methods of Superlearning and Suggestopedia (Ostrander) clearly demonstrate the advantage of learning school room information such as language, math, science, and so forth, in alpha consciousness says.

Alpha

Alpha consciousness is the state most refer to as the primary say experienced in hypnosis. Hypnosis has been viewed from many perspectives and historically has held more than one definition. However, the concurred upon definition this day is a heightened state of suggestibility. This heightened state of suggestibility is just what the title implies. In alpha consciousness one is particularly likely to the acceptance of skillful recommendation. The nature of suggestion depends on who is suggesting. A hypnotherapist will make healthy and positive recommendations while a sales person trained in the art of hypnotic selling may give personally self-serving recommendations (Moine, Lloyd). The power of suggestion and the psychology of compliance, mentioned in further detail in the next chapter, are used every day in mass marketing strategies to sell everything from illness to religion (Taylor).

When one is in an alpha state, whether naturally or artificially induced, their inner speak tends to slow down and become image oriented and/or guided as opposed to constantly self-initiated, albeit often unconsciously. Since we live in a modern society we are exposed to a variety of stimuli that our forefathers never knew. Let me provide a couple of examples.

Much of the television, radio and print media programming of today dwells on violence, sex and so-called taboo issues. The word is sensationalism. The more sensational, the better the reviews, the more money, the more massive the audience and so on. Rather systematically over the past twenty to thirty years, the threshold of arousal has increased in the population, forcing an ever increasing thrust into areas of an explicit nature in order to maintain the sensational. Consequently, our inner speak, our fantasies, our very ideation has been influenced. This new tolerance for vengeance, anger, fear, violence, sexuality and so forth has tilted our society. Values have diminished to the point that we’ve younger generations without the proverbial “clue” as to what life is about. The world is for living and taking and minimizing pain while maximizing pleasure. Twelve-year-old children walk into school and gun down their teachers and school mates. Drugs, child prostitution, gang violence, drive-by shootings, and so forth are the chief worries of parents today. How did our society degenerate to this point?

Many psychologists and psychiatrists, sociologists and anthropologists, and for that matter, political scientists, have made vociferous outcries asserting the neurotic nature of our times and are lining up in an attempt to end the media management of arousal thresholds and value orientation. Television has probably the single largest impact on people today. It guides our buys, the information most have about their world or any single issue/event, merchandises everything from wearing apparel, hair style, fashion in general to wholesaling the common cold. “It’s the flu season and it’s coming to your town! Everyone will get it! You can rest and baby yourself, pamper your whims and take some needed time off, maybe even cement your relationships, if you’ve XYZ on hand.” How much sickness do you think is vended in the same way attitudes and beliefs are sold through our media?

Some of you might want to state, “Taylor, you are nuts. TV doesn’t make anyone sick. You don’t get the flu from a Television!” Fair enough. Let’s look a little deeper. When a person is in a say of alpha, such as hypnosis, the science and literature show us clearly, without doubt, that the body can be recommended to health or illness. A hypnotist can advocate a burn, place an ice cube on the arm, and a blister will almost immediately appear. As a practicing hypnotherapist, I personally witnessed phenomena that illustrates the mind’s control over the body to the degree that suggesting a easy runny nose is, as Sherlock would state, “Elementary!” But in order to tie this suggestibility of alpha says in to the problems posed by television viewing, we should also take a look at another area of scientific enquiry that might surprise you.

Studies have shown that the average individual will enter alpha brain wave says within four minutes of being engaged by television (Taylor). If you consider it, this should not come as any surprise. How many times have each of us seen someone, or been that someone, who appeared so engrossed in television that it required yelling at the person to get their attention?

Okay, alpha consciousness and “cold season”‹I ask you again, how much illness do you think is sold in order to create the market that sells the cure?

It should be obvious that the state of alpha consciousness is not only natural but can be a beneficial time to put positive information into our bio computing brain/mind. The essential use of alpha can also either be a matter of choice or a matter of habituation. Recently I saw a sign in the supermarket selling the publication: Television Guide. The sign underneath the current issue said, “Check Out.” A picture of a television with the initials Television within it was all that accompanied the sign. How many times have you heard or used the phrase, “I’ll watch TV and check out”? Check out, vacuum the mind, and so on; these are the terms we all naturally think of when we think of TV. Turn our minds over, let go of our concerns, oh‹and let someone else program them. Why “check out”? In alpha states of consciousness endorphin levels increase. Endorphin is the body’s natural opiate system. It feels good. Sometimes, perhaps too good.

Before we continue with our discussion of brain states, let me provide a visual analogy that might be helpful. If you think of brain wave activity as the number of lines on an inch of graph paper, then you have a visual image of mental activity at least as we measure it with electro-encephalographic instrumentation. Instead of thinking of the lines on paper, think in terms of the size of fencing. The closer the lines are to each other, the smaller the fencing material. The smaller the fencing, the more restrictive it is to both incoming and outgoing “stuff;” in our analogy, let’s say birds. The mind is very much like this. The tighter the wire enclosure, the less information (stimulus) we can process and remember. This is why superlearning states use alpha consciousness. As the brain wave activity slows down, the holes in our fencing material become huge and more information can get it. (See the illustration below).

In future chapters we will analyze in more detail some of the powers and practical applications of altered says of consciousness. For the purposes of this chapter, our introduction is only intended to serve as groundwork.

Theta

Theta consciousness is often associated with deep sleep and very deep levels of hypnosis or meditation. It is generally believed that the so-called super human feats of the many spiritual masters, such as those reported eating hot coals, controlling body functions, and so forth, are achieved while in theta consciousness. Indeed, mystics tend to instruct that as the brain wave patterns slow, the vibration of the body alters. By allegedly changing the vibration of the body, many things thought to be impossible become possible. The rate of vibration is seen analogically as light vibrating at a rate much faster than

glass, therefore it passes through the glass. A stone, however, vibrates much slower than glass, consequently preventing it from passing through without breaking the glass. Thus, there is an arguable inverse proportion to brain wave activity and body vibration. As the brain wave activity slows, the body vibration rate is stated to increase.

Delta

Delta consciousness is ordinarily thought of as comatose. For years this say of consciousness was believed to be so turned in on itself that outside stimuli went absolutely unnoticed, perhaps even unrecognized at any level of registration. However, the work of Oliver Sacks showed the world that even in this state of consciousness, there is awareness. In his work with patients (see his book Awakenings), he used large doses of dopamine, and literally awakened (at least for a short time) most of the patients. Stranger than fiction, these patients reported their various records and sensitivities to the history of their treatment, the hospital protocol, their environment and so forth.

This has just been a short introduction to hypnosis. The bottom line is one that you might want to check out for yourself. My recommendation, try it. If you still want to know more first, then you’ll want to read the story in the July 2001 issue of Scientific America. The article shatters many common myths including those that attempt to debunk hypnosis as either fakery, pleasing the hypnotist or imagination. The hypnotic subject experiences a say of consciousness that’s independent from so-called ordinary consciousness. It is not about compliance or imagination, nor is it about placebo responsiveness, low intelligence or the weak minded. Hypnosis is a safe state where many wonderful insights and healings can and do take place.

set goals
Koz Huseyin asked:

What’s maximum performance? What’s it when you move at 100 miles per hour? What’s it when the most successful achieve that maximum performance, while others struggle? In this article, you’ll find how to set goals for maximum performance.

As you sit down, and read this, if you envision that you’ve no goals, you will find an interesting thing happens. You had a goal before you came to this article. This goal, allowed you to do something.

Most people don’t hold goals. They do not set goals, they simply live in reaction. And it is this reaction, which causes them, not to live the life of your dreams. Now, you being here tells me that you’re a person committed to excellence.

To accomplish maximum performance, then we realize that we need goal setting as a fundamental to success. We do not need anymore reassurance about this, because everyone in history, who has achieved notable success, has had a – GOAL.

Now, how to set goals seems pretty easy. You’ve a goal; you work on your goal. You achieve the goal, and it is time to go forward to the next goal. If all goals were achieved like this, you would be in the flow, and working at maximum.

Would not it be nice to go like a jet, rather than at walking speed? Well it is possible, and here are some things that you can do, to make this happen.

* 1. How To Set Goals – Set Clear Goals

Setting clear goals is the first most important step, in achieving the goal. After all, how will you know, when you are successful, if you’ve not set a goal, in the first place?

Getting clear is the most important step in how to set goals. Once you have this portion, you likely will see obstacles, and opportunities.

* 2. How To Set Goals – Your Game Plan

Your game plan is vital. Your game plan is how you’re going to go about achieving that goal.

* 3. How To Set Goals – Set A Deadline

A deadline is essential. Time isn’t that important with goals. However, it has an aspect, which is important. Let us say for example, that you’re Columbus, and you want to go on a voyage, now you don’t set a deadline.

The journey will take however long it takes, however, without your own goal; you’ll not drive yourself to action. We only have a finite amount of time. A day has 24 hours and no more. Once it is gone, it is gone forever.

Now, a deadline is important, however, not that important. It can seem confusing, however, it is essential to grasp, where others have failed, so you can succeed.

A deadline is essential; however, deadlines cause more failures than successes. The problem is that a goal never reached before, means we cannot be sure. You might want to go to a local store, and it might take 15 minutes. But if the first time, you set 14 minutes, and after 14 minutes, it wasn’t reached, you would have left it. And this is what most people do!

Michelle Beaudry asked:

Hypnosis: so simple, you do it with your eyes shut.

Fundamentals of the Mind

The human mind may be subdivided into three parts: the Unconscious, Subconscious and Conscious. These compare to a computer:

Unconscious = operating system

Subconscious = hard drive

Conscious = RAM

Each part has separate and distinct tasks.

The Unconscious mind operates your automatic body systems such as the circulatory system, much as a computer’s operating system includes its basic functions. The Subconscious mind operates like a hard drive by storing files of all kinds, from a full memory bank of your past to your emotional spectrum, to its most vital task: protecting you at all costs. The Conscious mind is our each day mind, making immediate day to day decisions like what to wear, eat, and drink. It is the gatekeeper, choosing what information is to be acted upon moment by moment. It’s the mind you’re reading this book with right now, and its tasks include comparing, reasoning, and explaining. These abilities are called the Critical Factor and are bypassed in hypnosis.

Importance of the Subconscious Mind

To update a file on your personal, you must open the original file and make the changes. In the human mind, original files are stored in the Subconscious. To gain access, we must reach the Subconscious directly, bypassing the Conscious mind. In other words, one way to gain positive changes in the present is to neutralize the negativity in the past. We don’t change the memories, we upgrade how you feel about them. This upgrading can only be accomplished in the Subconscious, for that is where memories are stored, and it can only be reached through bypass of the Conscious mind, and that can only be done through hypnosis. Why? It’s what works. Hypnosis specifically sets the Conscious mind aside temporarily.

Your Mind Must Protect You; Good News, Bad News

All levels of your mind work to protect you as ideal they can at all times. And this especially applies to the Subconscious. It must protect you at all costs, and to do so, it might even lie to you, or more to the point, to your Conscious mind. It might lie about you, about others, it may even lie to your hypnotist while you’re in trance. It might hide memories from you. And much, much more. This is because once it accepts negative behaviors in the name of your safety, it hangs on to those behaviors. Some examples are:

•smoking anything

•being obese

•declining success

•biting your fingernails

•spending compulsively

You might well ask, how can compulsive spending possibly protect me? It distracts you. Misdirection is one highly effective way your Subconscious protects you by keeping a lid on overwhelming emotions. Ergo the addict. You might well ask, how can declining to be successful possibly protect me? It limits you. Limiting exposure to risk is another way to protect you. It is when such protective efforts don’t meet your current needs that you desire change. Hypnosis sets aside the Conscious mind, makes changes via the Subconscious mind, and change is achieved.

How Hypnosis Upgrades Your Files

Hypnosis is able to change your perception of your memories, and thus of yourself. We do not change the events themselves, we upgrade how you feel about them, and thus your daily life is upgraded. By accessing the original files stored in the Subconscious, you’re able to see all of the reasons why your mind specifies your behaviors in the name of protecting you, and together we upgrade those behaviors since, typically, the need of that protection is gone. You are no longer in the middle of the event that had such impact on you. Your Conscious mind does not have complete access to your memory files; that’s not its job. This is why merely speaking about change is such an ineffective means of getting any. Speaking happens in the Conscious mind. Change happens in the Subconscious. And here’s the rub: the Subconscious outvotes the Conscious mind. It is far, far larger, stronger, and more powerful. This is why willpower fails so miserably for the dieter. Unless the Subconscious agrees to a healthy diet and a normalized body weight, your finest of intentions are shortlived, having been overridden by the Subconscious mind.

Emotions

Emotions are a function of, and are stored in, the Subconscious. When you have had an emotional reaction to danger, for example, real or imagined, those emotions are felt and stored in your Subconscious. Hypnosis accesses those stored emotions, upgrades your perception of them, and results in changed behavior. You must give yourself permission to make changes. You must want to change. You must want to enter into hypnosis. And this means not being afraid of hypnosis. So, let’s define what hypnosis is in several ways, as there’s no single perfect way to phrase it.

What Hypnosis Is

•“Hypnosis is the bypass of the critical factor of the conscious mind combined with the establishment of selective thinking,” states the US Government.

•Hypnosis is a blend of physical relaxation and extreme mental alertness. Yes, I said extreme.

•Hypnosis is a state of focused concentration. This is why a few minutes of emotional expression in trance is worth hours in an alert say. Humans are so easily distracted, and the Conscious mind is forever making excuses for everything. In hypnosis, the conscious mind is set aside, and excuses are seen for what they’re.

•Hypnosis is the state you enter into every time you watch a tv show you like, see a film you like, or sit down at the computer intending to only be there for 10 minutes… and suddenly it’s two hours later.

•Hypnosis also happens when humans fall in love, literally entranced.

What Hypnosis Is Not

•Hypnosis isn’t mind control.

•Hypnosis is not a royal proclamation.

•Hypnosis is not sleep. We use relaxation, not sleep, to enter hypnosis. You do not wake up from hypnosis, you emerge. And you already know exactly what emerging from hypnosis feels like! Remember the last time you went to the movies, loved the film, and at the end when the credits rolled, you suddenly “came to”? You just emerged from hypnosis. That’s exactly what it feels like, because that’s exactly what happened.

•Hypnosis is not being unconscious. You can hear everything that goes on around you during trance; you’re just not interested in it.

•Hypnosis isn’t relaxation. That’s just an optimal starting point.

•Hypnosis isn’t being drugged. However, one can easily mimic a drugged say in hypnosis, provided you have previously felt the effects of that drug. Your body remembers. This is useful for pain control.

•Hypnosis isn’t involuntary. Just as no one can make you enjoy a movie that fails to entrance you, no one can make you remain in hypnosis. I typically instruct my clients self hypnosis on the very first session so that they know for certain that they can emerge whenever they like. Anyone can emerge from hypnosis instantly by making that their intention.

How Does It Actually Happen?

Hypnotists use methods we call techniques. These include Guided Imagery, Rescuing Events, The Forgiveness Pyramid, Parts, The Spa of Your Inner Mind, Upgrades, and Higher Mind, to mention a few.

The Last Word

The media uses hypnosis on you all the time. Aaaalllllllll the time. Advertisers have been known to employ hypnotists to assess the hypnotic potential of a given advertisement, and pay good money for it.

Everytime you watch tv and like it, you go into a state of trance. Ditto listening to music, going to the movies, watching a DVD, hearing talk radio, reading a magazine, and so forth. When you don’t like a particular type of music, that’s expressly because it fails to put you into the trance you listen to music for.

So here comes the big duh. Why should media have all the fun? Please visit your friendly neighborhood trance specialist and use hypnosis to further your own goals.

Ah, hypnosis. So simple you can do it with your eyes closed.

People Building asked:

If you’re considering training as a hypnotherapist or would like to learn how to use hypnosis for yourself or for use informally with family and friends, you might feel overwhelmed by all the courses on offer. Sadly, at present there’s no one regulating body that oversees all hypnotherapy training, although there are many UK hypnotherapy organizations that have been set up to try to improve standards of hypnotherapy training courses. Due to the lack of one overseeing organization, it can be really tricky knowing which courses are of good quality and which will provide you with the skills to practice as a competent therapist.

I’ve recently finished a certified hypnotherapy diploma and I chose my hypnotherapy course based on recommendation from other people, who had undertaken training with my chosen company. The Trance forming Minds course offered by People Building, a self-development training company in the U.K has been assessed and validated at Practitioner Level by The General Hypnotherapy Standards Council (UK). Graduates from this course are eligible for professional registration with The General Hypnotherapy Register (the GHSC’s Registering Agency) at full Practitioner status, together with the acquisition of the industry-based award- The General Qualification in Hypnotherapy Practice (GQHP).

I selected to train with People Building, because I was satisfied that the training content was comprehensive and that classroom time amounted to 150 hours, which is more then what other courses I looked into were providing. Lets face it, there are plenty of trainers offering to train you in a weekend or a few days, but would you really want to then go and start treating people who may be fragile or unwell and who deserve to be treated by a therapist who knows both how to assess their needs and formulate and then implement a treatment plan competently.

Unlike, some of the other hypnotherapy courses around, the hypnotherapy diploma course offered by People Building involved intense practical application and didn’t rely mainly on students clocking up practical experience in their own time. What this means is that you get to apply the hypnotherapy skills you learn in theory in front of trained and experienced hypnotherapists and therefore you’re constantly supervised and given feedback.

The team were really supportive and completing a hypnotherapy diploma is really enjoyable as you get to experience trance yourself many times throughout the training. This is crucial if you want to practice as a hypnotherapist and you will also gain an insight into factors, which enhance or disturb your trance experience, which you’ll find invaluable once you are practicing.

Trance-forming minds is run over three months and is split into 5 days of classroom work each month, with additional tasking which must be conducted in between each course in order to meet the required numbers of hours for certification. I would recommend this course to anyone considering undertaking hypnotherapy training.

happiness
Zubli Zainordin asked:

Happy, is a word so close to our hearts. In fact, happiness is a worldwide subject of discussions. Being happy is a topic of searchers and researchers for ages. While total happiness is a choice for us to experience at any given moment as the ultimate rights of our life.

Please observe that, when an individual could not find happiness, he or she start to wonder, “why am I not happy?”. When another individual see people who are happy, they start to caution, “why are you so happy? Don’t injured yourself now”. When other individual knows a bit about happiness, he or she start to probe, “are you happy?”. Of course there many more questions to ask. However, at this point it is pertinent to ask, “where can we find total happiness?”.

To illustrate, please envision this scenario. Sometime ago, the one in a house has observed another who isn’t happy. The one suggested, “honey, let me take you to the cinema, or a concert tonite. Maybe you long for a circus, there’s one nearby. Well, I can even fly with you to Hawaii this Saturday. Or would you like that we tour as far as Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia? Do tell me where the place on this globe that you want to go, I will take ou there, as long as it makes you happy!”

Yet, the result shall be beyond one’s comprehension, because any place outside oneself has nothing to do with one’s total happiness inside. Horace Friess, once said, “all seasons are beautiful for the person who carries happiness within”.

Yes, total happiness is not without, but within. In fact, total happiness is a gift from the God, to us eversince we were being born into this world. Total happiness is our birthright. As babies it is only natural for us to being happy. In addition, we’re continuously being in this say of total happiness inside regardless of what happen or what didn’t happen outside. In fact, we are able to attain, maintain, and sustain total happiness from then on, throughout our life, until our inevitable death.

Total happiness is within us. Pure, complete and wholesome. It has always been here. It is still here now. Nothing and no one on the face of this earth can take it away from us. It’s level is constant, therefore it cannot be any less or more. It is consistently enough at all times. It is just right for us as we celebrate our first happy birthday, and it is enough even till we celebrate beyond our 100th., happy birthday. We’re still happy, moment after moment, and year after year. Naturally we cannot be otherwise.

Yet, when we look around, we’re witnessing a great majority of people who are unhappy. There are those who seem to have lost their happiness. They’re being unhappy most of the time. The dire need to reach a level of being happy becomes more and more difficult for them. The farther they search for it, the more unhappy they become. The hotter the pursuit of happiness, the more elusive it becomes to them. The more intense their desire for happiness, the more stressful is the challenges of their daily living. Of course total happiness is an illusion. To answer why, Ramona L. Anderson stated, “people spend a lifetime searching for happiness; looking for peace. They chase idle dreams, addictions, religions, even other people, hoping to fill the emptiness that plagues them. The irony is the only place they ever needed to search was within”.

Surely many people have missed happiness, while others are still searching for the secret to total happiness, and so far none of them are able to receiving and also to most of them none are able to give a correct and satisfying answer to the question of happiness.

Total happiness is within us, why then most of us are searching for it without. Total happiness in always inside us, so why are we looking for it outside. The title of this article at the outset already advocates the very answer to the question “where shall we find total happiness, and where is it’s location?”. The facts remain and it is assuring to know that total happiness is within us. Total happiness is inside us. To illustrate, please imagine a house full of oranges. Yes, oranges on the dining table, in a basket near the TV set, in the refrigerator, and more in the store. To exaggerate further, the location of this home is on a piece of land surounded by an orchard of oranges. One day, the resident of the home is about to go out, when his spouse started to ask him, “where are you going?”. To this question he answered, “I am going out to find some oranges”.

Almost similar, you shall find total happiness within us, so we do not have to look for happiness outside. We do not have to be everywhere, nowhere, elsewhere or anywhere to like happiness. We do not need anything to happen, and we don’t hope that something won’t happen, in order to attain happiness. Deep within us, we’re already happy. We possess it, and it belongs to us. The God has given us total ownership of our own happiness. We’re completely happen regardless of any happenstance surrounding our life. We don’t have to travel to any hotel or any resort to claim it. Instead beginning now we might select to advance into an inner journey toward the center of our being should we choose to really discover it. We can touch base as of now, and be in enlightenment and not endarkenment in relations to our total happiness.

Anyone searching for happiness with the wrong reasons, will surely miss it. Let me explain with this familiar story. There are two guys in the darkness of a room. One ask the other, “what are you searching?”, The other answered, “I am searching for a box of matches”. “What for?”, asked the one. “So that I could find the torchlight”, came the answer. “Now, why do you need the torchlight?”, exclaimed the other. “So that I could find a box of matches to lit this cigerette, you silly!”

In addition, anyone searching for happiness at the wrong place, will surely miss it also. Let me explain with another familiar story. There was a man searching for something under a lamp post. A passerby asked him, “what are you searching?” He answered, “my wedding ring”. The passerby thought that ring must be important to this man, so he offered, “may I assist you?”. The man nodded. The passerby then asked to make sure, “where exactly did you lose it?”. The man stooded up straight and pointed his finger to a distant tree. The passerby wondered and asked, “why do you not search for it there?”. The man answered, “Oh! It’s too dark there, here under this lamp post it is so much brighter”.

Now do you know where happy is? Do you also know where is real, true, or total happiness? Do you know where to find a say of being happy? Where the place is? Where is its location? Democritus said, “happiness resides not in possessions and not in gold, the feeling of happiness dwells in the soul”. While Aristotle, stated “to live happily is an inward power of the soul”. Less anyone forget, one’s soul is inside oneself, and not outside, OK.

Next, please see what Helen Keller said, “happiness cannot come from without. It must come from within. It isn’t what we see and touch or that which others do for us which makes us happy; it is that which we think and feel and do…”.

Yes, total happiness is within you. The message of this article is for you to touch base. Close your eyes now and flow inside. So go on an inner journey into the center of your being. You shall reach a point where total happiness is. Then at every moment of your life, you are free to choose total happiness. This is a place where you shall select to be. Be happy.

hypnosis
Shari Hearn asked:

Many of you might be familiar with how hypnosis can help with weight loss and smoking cessation. But, did you know that hypnosis can also be used during pregnancy to help relieve anxiety and aid in calm, natural birth?

Hypnosis has been used for quite some time to help in numerous health-related issues, from relieving IBS symptoms to preparing for surgery to alleviating fear of dental procedures. Many pregnant women are now enjoying the benefits of hypnosis, allowing them to experience natural births with minimal pain.

In order to better comprehend how hypnosis can help pregnant women, it helps to gain a better understanding of hypnosis itself. To put it in easy terms, hypnosis is intense focus and concentration. Many people have likened the concentration with getting lost in a good book or television program. Utilizing that intense focus, hypnosis can actually slow down your brain waves.

Right now you’re probably in your waking say, which is Beta consciousness. But, by altering your conscious state through hypnosis, you are able to enter Alpha consciousness, where your brain waves actually slow down. And, when you slow down your brain waves you lose the “critical chatter” of the conscious mind and are able to slip in positive recommendations to the subconscious mind. These positive suggestions can be about any behavior you’d like to change, or any outcome you’d like to see take effect, such as having a natural, simple birth.

In addition, when you’re in a relaxed said and imagining a desired outcome, the brain can’t tell the difference between reality and fantasy, and reacts as if the desired outcome was a reality. This phenomenon can be seen in pain management, when hypnotherapists use hypnosis and imagery on pain sufferers to help them lessen the intensity of their pain.

Hypnosis can aid pregnant women in so many different ways and in so many different stages of their pregnancies.

Hypnosis Can Aid in Fertility

Where inability to become pregnant is not due to a medical condition, many women have found relief with hypnosis. There are several who believe that if you can envision it you can create it, and hypnosis is often paired with imagery to “visualize” oneself becoming pregnant and imagining a baby coming into one’s life. Hypnosis is also used to alleviate stress, which might be inhibiting a woman from becoming pregnant. Of course, women aren’t the only ones whose stress and anxiety might be inhibiting pregnancy. Many men feel the pressure to help their partners conceive. This stress can affect men’s sperm quality.

Hypnosis Can Aid in Helping a Woman Become More Comfortable

Many women experience discomfort from being pregnant, such as morning sickness, the intensity of which can be lessened through hypnosis. In women with high blood pressure, hypnosis can be helpful in helping them to rest, which in turn can help control the symptoms.

Hypnosis Can Help in the Actual Birth Process

Many women are now using hypnosis to help them have their baby naturally with no drugs. Utilizing hypnosis, women can help themselves relax during the baby’s birth. Since pain responses are greatly enhanced with fear and anxiety, creating a sense of calm helps in reducing the sensation of pain. The women will be awake and aware of everything that’s happening, including the contractions, but will be able to dictate to a great extent the intensity of the sensations she feels.

There are numerous hypnosis tapes and CDs available which can help reduce the fears and anxieties associated with pregnancy and the birthing process. If at all possible, it’s preferable to meet face to face with a hypnotherapist who can tailor the hypnosis to your specific fears, anxieties or needs.

How to Find a Hypnotherapist

The first place to look is your own doctor. (It’s always good to have your doctor’s input before beginning any treatment programs). Ask him or her for a suggestion to a good hypnotherapist. If your physician does not have a suggestion you can utilize internet hypnotist referral networks to find one in your area. One good referral website is www.registeredhypnotist.com, where you can look up hypnotherapists in your area.

Another good world wide web resource is www.hypnobirthing.com, which lists practitioners across the country who’ve gone through the HypnoBirthing® The Mongan Method, a program specifically tailored to natural birthing.

Whether you plan on a natural birth or not, hypnosis can still help you relax more about the entire birthing process. Becoming more relaxed can help you gain control over your pregnancy, rather than have your pregnancy gain control over you.
